There
is a distinct diet that the scriptures indicate a Christian should
use to nourish themselves!
Philippians
1:27 “Only let your
conduct be worthy of the gospel of Christ , so that whether
I come and see you or am absent, I may hear of your affairs, that
you stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for
the faith of the gospel ,”
1
Timothy 2:4 “who desires
all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth
.”
This
specific diet is a combination of both intake and exercise!
2
Timothy 3:16-17 “All
Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is
profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction
in righteousness, 17
that the man of
God may be complete ,
thoroughly equipped for every good work .”
Hebrews
5:14 “But solid food
belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who
by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern
both good and evil.”
At
the time of the writings of the Apostle Paul, He would mention certain
disorders that existed among brethren, by which they would pollute
God's healthy regiment of righteous nourishment!
1
Timothy 1:4 “nor give
heed to fables and endless genealogies , which cause
disputes rather than godly edification which is in faith.”
1
Timothy 4:7 “But reject
profane and old wives' fables , and exercise yourself
toward godliness.”
1
Timothy 6:3-5 “If anyone
teaches otherwise and does not consent to wholesome words, even
the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which
accords with godliness, 4
he is proud, knowing
nothing, but is obsessed with disputes and arguments
over words , from which come envy, strife, reviling, evil suspicions,
5
useless wranglings
of men of corrupt minds and
destitute of the truth, who suppose that godliness is a means
of gain. From such withdraw yourself.”
Titus
1:14
“not giving heed to
Jewish fables and commandments of men who turn from
the truth.”
Titus
3:9 “But avoid foolish
disputes , genealogies , contentions , and strivings
about the law; for they are unprofitable and useless.”
Just
as it was at the writing of these letters of Paul, Christians today
seem to disregard the written truth of God's word and have attempted
to replace it; or pollute it, with foolish writings and wranglings
of the unlearned and gain seekers (Da Vinci Code; gospel of Judas,
and an endless array of human doctrinal theories, etc...).
Christians
must correct these disorders and return to God's pure and holy word!
Christians must eat in a wholesome fashion in order to avoid obesity,
lethargic and unproductive behavior, and weakness. We must learn
to hold fast the word of truth!
Philippians
2:12-16 “Therefore,
my beloved, as you have always obeyed, not as in my presence only,
but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with
fear and trembling; 13
for it is God who works
in you both to will and to do for His good pleasure. 14
Do all things without
complaining and disputing, 15
that you may become blameless
and harmless, children of God without fault in the midst of a crooked
and perverse generation, among whom you shine as lights in the world,
16
holding fast the word
of life , so that
I may rejoice in the day of Christ that I have not run in vain or
labored in vain.”
Holding
fast the word of life gives every Christian the strength to recognize
the futility of human wisdom and the evil subversion it causes within
the body of Christ.
