Illness:
Greed is
that which causes one to hunger
and thirst after the things of this world. It is the concept of,
“ What can I get next? ” Our society is consumed
with what we think we need.
From lawn ornaments to boats; from where we will go on vacation
next to what
movie
we will see.
You
see! It doesn't just include things, it also consumes time and even
involves how we may treat others (favoritism) based on how they may
help us achieve what we need.
If
you don't think this includes us all, you had better think again!
Cure:
Matthew
5:6 “Blessed are
those who hunger and thirst for righteousness , For they shall
be filled.”
James
2:8-9 “If you really fulfill the royal
law according to the Scripture, " You shall love your neighbor
as yourself ," you do well; 9
but if you show partiality, you commit sin, and are convicted
by the law as transgressors.”
James
4:13-15 “Come now, you who say, "Today
or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, spend a year there,
buy and sell, and make a profit"; 14
whereas you do not know what will happen tomorrow. For what
is your life? It is even a vapor that appears for a little time and
then vanishes away. 15 Instead
you ought to say, " If the Lord wills , we shall live
and do this or that ."
Philippians
4:11 “Not that I speak in regard to
need, for I have learned in whatever state I am , to be content
:”
Is
God first in worship attendance, study, devotion, and prayer? Or do
we hunger and thirst for something else?
Be
Filled With Righteousness!
