John
4:23-24
“But
the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship
the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to
worship Him . 24
God is Spirit, and those who worship
Him must worship in spirit and truth."
In
the Lord's teaching to the Samaritan woman we learn that:
- It
would not soon matter anymore where someone worshipped ( Jerusalem
or a mountain in Samaria
), vs.
21 .
- It
would not soon matter anymore who you are (Jew or Gentile), vs.
22
- It
would only matter that you detach yourself from the things of this
earth and worship God as He has instructed!
Note
what Paul would instruct the Christians in Rome
, concerning this:
Romans
12:1-2
“I
beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present
your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your
reasonable service. 2
And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed
by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and
acceptable and perfect will of God.”
Paul's
instruction to these Christians in these two verses establishes his
teachings to them for several chapters and encompasses all aspects of
their lives. However, I would like for to continue to consider the concept
of worship, whether as a collective or as an individual.
When
you present yourself to God, through Christ Jesus, are you a pure and
undefiled self sacrifice that is only concerned with proving what is
good and acceptable to God?
Then:
Turn your
cell phones off at worship!
Leave your
pets at home!
I think
we get the thought !
Let
us present ourselves pure and undefiled before God ,
having been born again of incorruptible seed (the word of God, I
Peter 1:22
-23 ).
The things of the world have no place in the hearts of the children
of God, especially when they worship in Spirit and Truth!
